This little gem is my newest listing, and I am so pleased with it! Crocheted from warm brown 100% Peruvian highland wool, then machine felted, this long, skinny wallet is perfect for keeping small items safely tucked away when you are on the go. Use it for cosmetics, craft supplies, cards and keys–whatever litte things you need to keep from getting lost in a purse or tote.
The Maple Syrup Felted Wallet is lined with some cute vintage calico that my mother found in her craft closet and sent to me. Aren’t the little gold and white flowers sweet? And the sweetness doesn’t end there…this material was once part of a little American Indian costume I wore for Halloween when I was about 7 yrs. old! I love being able to reuse and repurpose material, don’t you? 🙂
Another fun little vintage detail is the pearlescent button I stitched on as the center of the felted flower. This cutey was hiding among all the other old buttons I bought at an antique shop last month. It was a lonely thing with no matching button buddies, so I was happy to find a project in which I could use it and give it another chance to shine!
Well, I hope you will take a trip over to Cocoa Cream Crochet today and take a peek at everything. I don’t recall if I’ve mentioned it yet, but I am having a U.S. Shipping Holiday now through January 1, 2010! I will ship for FREE to any address in the United States, on any item from my shop! I know alot of people are trying to find the best deals and ways to stretch their dollars this holiday season, so this shipping holiday is my little way of helping you out! 🙂
Well I have been very busy away from the house lately…errands, church activities, and the like…so my poor little blog has been sorely neglected. I thought I’d better at least try to get one post done before Thanksgiving, even though I don’t have a lot of things to share right now…Just kitty pics and a couple little felt projects.
My babies are now 7 months old, and calming down accordingly. They are also getting lots bigger! I had put their collars away for a couple of weeks, and when I went to put them back on yesterday, I had to drastically loosen them to fit properly! They cold weather is also encouraging lots of snuggling these days, and I got some cute shots of them snoozing on our bed yesterday. The lighting in the master bedroom is pretty horrible for taking photographs, and I’m not in the mood to retouch this one right now, but you get the picture. They are just like one big kitty-blob!
One of the projects I’ve been working on, aside from Christmas gifts, are these little felt heart Christmas ornaments. Our church is having a bazaar and silent auction to raise money for a local homeless ministry, so I made these little ornaments to help out. I actually made four total, but I forgot to take pics of the last two before taking them to church.
Stitching on all those little seed bead was not as much fun as you may think, but I guess it was worth the result. I also made one with a seed bead snowflake, which was very cute…too bad I didn’t take a picture!
Part of me would like to make some more of these for my etsy shop, but it seems like there are already alot of people selling similar things there. What do you think? I am somewhat at a loss about what to sell these days. I have sold a couple sets of personalized cat toys, so I’m thinking about making more pet-related items…it’s just hard to know what to do, especially with all the worries people have about the economy these days. It’s not going to help me one single bit!
But we still have more to be thankful for than I could ever list out here. And I plan to fully enjoy this Thanksgiving with family, giving God the glory for all He’s done for us over the past year. What a year it has been! Thank you, Lord!
Sorry I’ve been away from the blog for a while. I’ve been feeling uninspired as far as writing goes over the past two weeks, so I saw no point in boring everyone with nonesense! But I have also been negligent in making you aware of all the crafting I’ve been doing, not that it has been much. I have added several new items to my shop, and hopefully will continue adding more of the same on a regular basis. I’m trying to create a little line of spa and bath items like the ones below:
Pure White Soap Saver
Sunshine Bath and Shower Puff
Pure White Crocheted Cloth
Goodmorning Sunshine Baby Washcloths
I also have begun designing and stitching some sweet little felt novelty items–Tea Bag Cozies! I think these would be great for Christmas as stocking stuffers or fillers for gift baskets. Aren’t they cute? I got the idea from some other sellers on etsy who make various types of “tea books” and other styles of tea bag cozies. But mine are a completely original design and are generally more affordable than others’. I hope you’ll keep checking back as I add more colors. I’m thinking my next set will be red felt, maybe stitched in green thread for a definitely Christmas look. What do you think?
