Show and Tell

I have a bunch of random things to post about today, so I figured the title “show and tell” was appropriate!

First off, my finished “Campout Mitts” turned out quite nicely, although I was obviously knitting a wee bit more tightly on the second one because it turned out a hair smaller than the first. My bind off was not as stretchy, either, so it is a little harder to get on. Oh well….I still think they look good for a beginner! (Wonder how long I can use that “beginner” status as an excuse!)

Second, I have now added all my for sale crochet pattern to my Craftsy store, as well as having them available on Ravelry and Etsy (not sure how much longer they will be on Etsy, though, as I am having trouble keeping up that shop…) So, if you like instant download capabilities, but you are not on Ravelry, this is a great way to purchase PDF patterns! ūüôā

Third, I just finished listing these two adorable little hat and loafer sets today. I keep thinking these would be perfect for twin boys, especially for newborn photos. Don’t you agree?!

I guess that is about all I have time for at the moment! By the way, just a reminder that I have a coupon code active right now at Lemon Lane Organics. Get 20% off any order with coupon code “HAPPYEASTER” at checkout!

Make Way for Baby Sale!

Well, it’s getting closer and closer to that time when hubby and I will welcome our new little one into the world! My due date is just one month away, and I am busy getting all the baby stuff washed and organized so that it will be ready when he comes home. Of course, all this means that I have had alot less time for my Etsy shop lately, and I know that once baby arrives it will be even harder to keep up! So, I’m having a HUGE clearance sale to clear out my old inventory and make room for new ideas and creations.

Everything in the shop has been marked down from 25-50% of the original price! (Everything except my crochet patterns, that is, since they are already at rock-bottom prices!) This sale will only last until our little one arrives, at which time I will close up shop for a while to enjoy our “babymoon.” So, you’ll want to hurry over to the shop and take advantage of these major discounts while they last! It’s a great chance to get a head start on your Christmas shopping!

MIA no more!

It has seemed like an eternity since I last posted, maybe because it has been! Well, I’m back now, though I will say that the next few weeks will probably¬†be much like the last few…”postless”.¬†But I have¬†a very good reason¬†which I am finally free to share. :o)

You see, since my dear hubby’s graduation from seminary, we have been looking for a new position and a new church in which he can serve the Lord. Finally, just two weeks ago, he was voted in as music and media pastor at a church in Illinois! So, after 3 1/2 years here in Texas, we will be moving back north, closer to family and all four seasons! Needless to say, our apartment is filled with boxes and packing materials, everything strewn about in chaotic piles. We have only 3 Sundays left at our current church (which is sad, indeed) before we move. You can imagine all that has to be done in this small amount of time! So you will have to excuse me for not blogging much over the next month or so. Although I’m sure the computer will be one of the last things packed (and one of the first unpacked), I don’t think I will have much time to sit and write during the moving process. But I will be back soon, I promise!

I do have one small project to share quickly…a baby round ripple for a friend at church. Her baby girl is not due until August, but since we are about to leave I knew I’d have to get it to her early. So I quickly dug through my stash, before packing it all up, and found two and a half skeins of this old Kolor Match yarn that used to belong to DH’s grandmother. If anybody knows what decade this stuff is from, I’d be interested to know. It was made by Caron, but obviously isn’t carried in stores¬†anymore. The yarn is 100% acrylic and feels just like Red Heart Super Saver. I’m counting on it softening up once I wash the blanket! Anyway, here’s my progress as of last night:

Well, I must get going and do some more packing/cleaning/organizing.¬†Have a great¬†couple of weeks! I’ll be back soon!

Snuggle-Soft Blanket

Little Boy Blue,
Come blow your horn,
The sheep’s in the meadow,
The cow’s in the corn.
Oh, where is the little boy
Who looks after the sheep?
He’s under a haystack,
fast asleep.

This little blanket reminds me of that old Mother Goose rhyme, and I almost named it “The Little Boy Blue.” But after the fun I had working with this incredibly soft yarn, I think I might be making more in other colors…and then I would have to come up with different names for them all! Yikes! My creativity only goes so far. So, instead, I’m calling this the “Snuggle-Soft Blanket,” and I look forward to making lots more in the future!

The yarn is from Jo-Ann Sensations, but I’m not sure if it’s available anymore. I was looking for it online and couldn’t find any. It was on clearance at my local store, so I’ll have to go back and see if they have any more. The main body of the blanket is made from “Fever” in light blue. For the edging, I just added in a strand of “Sprinkles” in blue shades. The result is a super soft, lightweight baby blanket. It turned out really small (because I just had a little of this yarn), but it seems like the perfect size for a preemie. So, that’s how I’m advertising it on Etsy. I hope someone will like it as much as I do!
