This just in!

Have a sleepy kitty who needs a new napping place? Well, you’re in luck! I just listed this super comfy-cozy pet mat in my shop…actually I have two of them, so if your cats get jealous of each other you can buy them both! Hee, hee!

If Molly’s big yawn here is any indication, I’d say this mat is a perfect place to curl up for a nice cat nap. It may even make some small doggie’s day, too! The nubby wool/nylon/acrylic blend yarn I used is great for sinking your paws and claws into, especially for those cats who like to knead plush objects before settling down for a snooze!

Well, enough talking…I know your kitty is just sitting there pawing at the computer screen and meowing for you to hurry on over to Cocoa Cream’s and order her Rainy Days Pet Mat right away! 🙂

What happens when…

Ths is what happens when you rearrange the furniture so that the couch is closer to the center of the room, making it into the perfect pussy perch for any time of day.

This is what happens when Max gets sleepy while we are working in the office too long.

This is what happens when the sun comes out for the first time in weeks, allowing me to open the blinds, but Molly gets there too late for a front row seat.

This is what happens when I catch Maggie in a rather humour sleeping position (followed by an evil glare that says, “I will get you for this.”)

And this blog post is what happens when I have nothing really important or interesting to say but don’t want to totally neglect bloggin altogether! Hope this silly cat pics at least brought a little smile to your day!

Happy New Year!

Well, I thought about doing a sort of photo recap of 2009, but that just sounded rather tedious. So, instead I thought about the biggest thing that has happened around here over the past year, and decided it was definitely our adoptiong of Brenna. She has been a wonderful addition to our fur-family, and we love her so very much. It hardly seems possible that we’ve had her less than a year…I can’t imagine what we did without her before! 🙂 We have had such fun with her so far…and here are some photos to prove it!

So, from all of us to all of you…may 2010 be a blessed year for you and yours. Happy New Year!

A Walk in the Park

I know it’s been a while since I last posted. I’ve been working on little craft projects here and there, but none of them are quite finished yet.  There are some fun felted eyeglass cases in the making. Then there’s my Autumn Chevron Lace Cardigan, for which I just found some fabulous vintage buttons. Then there are these lovely wool yarns that I bought from KnitPicks for felting. Here’s a little sneak peek:

Today has been one of those beautiful, perfect autumn days. The leaves are just so brilliantly colored and the weather is cool but balmy. So, hubby and I decided to take Brenna on a little hike at the nearby state park. It was just lovely. And our sweet doggie was so happy and excited to be there with us.

My two sweeties.

Lovely woodland stream in the autumn.

Brilliant fall colors against a bright blue sky.

Happy collie girl!

Aw! How can you resist those big brown collie eyes?!

It’s good to take a walk in the park every now and then.

It’s pouring to-do lists!

Okay, well, not really. It’s actually pouring rain outside, but inside I have so much to do that I feel like I’m knee-deep in to-do lists. I just finished cooking the doggie’s wet food for the next two weeks or more. Before that we walked a mile in a light drizzle (apparently the only break we’ll have in the rain today.) Brenna got a good deep brushing of her coat this morning, and I was able to get her to sit still long enough to trim the fur on two of her feet. I’ll probably have to wait until tonight or tomorrow to get the other two done. And after that I will have to wrestle her to the ground to trim her toe nails. Not fun, but it must be done. I’ve been working a little trying to desensitize her to the clippers, but it is going to take a long time before she is really over her fear. And her nails need trimmed right away.

The rest of my tasks for the day are mostly mundane household chores like washing the dishes, dusting and vaccuuming and such like. I hate cleaning on rainy days, though. I would really prefer to sit down with a good book, or even better, with a crochet hook, some yarn and a good old movie! Oh, and speaking of crochet projects, I finished the mobius I was talking about in my previous post, but the photos I attempted to take didn’t turn out. Not. At. All. I really need a little white dress form or torso manikin, but I haven’t figured out how to work that into the budget. Anyone want to donate to the “buy me a manikin” fund!? Hee, hee…just kidding. Anyway, I will try again one day when the sun comes back out, which right now looks like it may be a while!

I haven’t been getting alot of other crocheting done, except a few rows of my Autumn Lace Cardigan. I have to say that I am loving this pattern (PDF.) It is simple enough to go mindlessly through a few rows, but it is interesting enough to keep me going. And I’m now far enough along on the body that I am confident that my alterations are working well. I am using true sport weight yarn for this, so I had to go down a couple of hook sizes from what the pattern calls for. So, in turn, I am making a size larger than I would have otherwise. And it looks like it’s going to be just right! Whew! Again, I have not gotten any good pics of the sweater, and that will have to wait for a sunny day as well.

Well, I have just one more important piece of news to add before I get back to work… This weekend I will be participating in Etsy’s Weekend Deals. I will be offering FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE from Friday (Oct. 9) through Sunday (Oct. 11) along with hundreds of other Etsy sellers. All you need to do is visit my shop, buy something you like, and type the promo code “Weekend Deals” in the Notes to Seller! Easy Peasy! 🙂  Check out this thread to see who else is participating!

Name that Toy!

It’s that time again…time to vote for your favorite furbaby photo on the PetsJubilee blog! Molly, Max and Maggie have politely asked me to campaign for them a bit. Their picture is in the post titled “Contestant #9.” All they need you to do is leave a short comment with your name! Please? 🙂

lapful of kittens

I also need a little help naming my new cat toys. They are little fabric bundles filled with catnip. I thought about naming them ‘Catnip Birdies’ because they are shaped like the ‘birdie’ used in the game of badminton, but then that could be confusing to people looking for a bird-shaped cat toy. So, I could use some ideas for a cute or quirky name for these little toys. My kitties love ’em, so I can’t wait to share them with others…just need to figure out what to call them first! So, here’s the deal…

Leave a comment in this post with your idea for naming the toys, along with your email or website where I can contact you. I will choose my favorite name idea, and the person with the winning name will receive a free pack of 4 catnip toys of their own! I will leave the contest open until midnight Sunday Sept. 27. (I have to have a name by the end of the month so that I can send some samples for the PetsJubilee October boxes!) Alright…comment away, and may the best name win!

Hello, blogland!

Brenna writing to you today. My nice people have been very busy lately, which is why there haven’t been any new blog posts in a while. I really wish they would stop being so busy, especially since most of the things they have been doing haven’t made me too happy.

Let’s see…first, they decided to rip up the smelly, nasty old carpet in the living room and hallways. That would have been totally okay with me, if they would have just replaced it with nice, soft, new carpet for me to squish my little doggie toes in…but no…they had to make my life difficult and lay this shiny, slippery stuff that is sooo hard for me to walk on. They call it wood laminate or something like that, but I really don’t care what you call it…I still don’t like it. However, I did get quite a few nice pieces of hot dog and chicken liver to help me get over being scared of slipping. So it’s been worth it all in the end, I guess. Plus, they put down a couple of rug “islands” for me in the tricky spots so that I don’t slip going around corners. That was pretty smart thinking, for humans!

I don’t really like to think about what happened next, but I will tell you anyway… They cut my toenails! Yikes! I absolutely hate getting my toenails cut. It’s just the most awful, horrible, terrible experience. My people don’t seem to like doing it either, but they say it has to be done. They also say they might just let the vet do it from now on…which doesn’t really sound any better to me. The only good thing is that now I can walk on the slipper floors better. I guess my toenails were getting a little too long after all…do they make scratching posts for doggies?

To end my week of torture, my well-meaning people also decided to give me a bath. Can you imagine!? I mean, I am a very clean doggie for the most part. I don’t go around rolling in stinky stuff in the yard or jumping in puddles or even bounding through the woods…so I really don’t see why I needed to get in the shower and get all wet and soapy. It wasn’t quite as bad as having my nails trimmed, but I still didn’t enjoy it one single bit. I do feel a little better now, I suppose. And my people keep petting me and telling me how soft and silky my fur feels now that it is not so grimy. That’s nice to know…and I look prettier with my fur all shiny and fluffy! I think they felt kind of sorry about all the nasty things they put me through last week because after it was all over, they brought home a couple of new stuffies to snuggle and a bag of pig ears for me to chew! Yum! They are very tasty!

So, I think all the torture is over for a while, anyway. My people say they are going to take me for a nice hike at the state park tomorrow, so that will be fun. And they keep telling me that we are going to something called “Doggie School” soon…I don’t know what that is, but I hope it will not be too scary. I do like meeting other doggies, as long as they are friendly…but I don’t know what they do at doggie school. I guess I will find out, whether I want to or not! I’ll try to get the people to get back on the blog soon and tell you all about it, okay?

Now, I need to go for a walk, so I’ll have to talk to you all later! Have a lovely day, wherever you are!
