Good Friday

cross

He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like on from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
 Sure he took up out infirmities and carried our sorrows,
ye we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him,
and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
~Isaiah 53:3-6
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
~John 3:16-18

     Lord and Saviour, thank for You for giving up your life on that cruel cross so many years ago. Thank you for paying the price for my sin through your death. Thank you for providing a way for every person to be forgiven of his or her sin by simply confessing their sin to you, believing that You are the Son of God and giving up control of their lives to You. Thank You for this Good Friday holiday on which I can remember what You did to save me! All praise and thanks be to God! Amen.
